As a 20 something, I like to say I know a lot, in fact I think I know everything on occasion, but I am oh so...wrong.
There is a lot to learn in your 20's, a lot to gain and a lot lost. They say you have a lot of time to figure it out, put yourself together and become successful but all of sudden there's a mood change. You have all the time in the world becomes you're not going to be young forever. When are you moving out? When are you getting married? And not to mention...kids? This brings me to my first "major key" in my early 20 years of revelations.
1. Have goals, have aspirations, and have a back-up.
A plan of action is great, in fact, a plan in general is great. Just know that nothing will really go according to plan. If your life is going to plan, be prepared for a sudden dramatic change.
2. Change is not a bad thing, it can actually be really amazing.
The unknown is frightening, the unexpected even worse...but it doesn't have to be. A new direction could be just what is needed, shine a new light and excite you to create a new path with new goals. People can change and so can their live goals. Have positive aspirations but don't expect anything. You'll either win or learn a lesson.
3. Don't play yourself. Trust your intuition.
Do it. Trust your intuition. You're gut, your first idea, your first impression. Just trust it and walk away from things that don't align; it might just save your life.
4. Find out what really matters to you and please don't let it just be material things.
Travel the world, see more than just your bank account and the stuff you buy.
5. Follow your dreams. Follow your heart. Listen to your soul.
If you don't have any big dreams in life aside from getting rich, then you need to re-think. Everyone has a dream in their early years. I'm talking age 5... Racecar driver? Runway model? Actress? Singer? Dancer? Put your dreams into perspective. You can still have all of those things you dreamed of but modified. Believing in yourself is essential. You'll be shot down, told no a million and a half times...keep going. Fall down seven, stand up 8.
