Once worn by Scottish Widows and midwives, the cape is a a new wool season update made to keep in the warmth aside from the far too familiar winter parka. From the delicious styles of Ralph Laren and cashmere on the autum/winter 2014 runway to the stop and stare factor of the wine stain-violent-red version by Elie Saab for those on the go wanting to make a statement entrance wherever you would like to make a grand enterence. Hiedi Silmane gave the cape his grin on approval at Saint Laruent to be worn with Mary Janes and an abreviated hemline.

So what's the better buy? A capelet- or cropped cape that comes just above the hipline to be worn with short lenght skirts. Complement voluminous shape with fabric folds with a pencil skirt. If your choice is narrow and tailored a mini is perfect. The longer the cape the better it looks with a trouser or go for a denim if you're offering a rugged appearance. Soft tights and ankle high boots complete the look. Elevate the outfit with a pair of heels to dress it up and add elegance.
